Inclusive Chronic Disease Education

Helping You Manage Your Health

Chronic diseases such as asthma, obesity, or diabetes impact all of us.  To alleviate symptoms or work toward chronic disease prevention, we need to become educated about the tools and resources available to us.  For some of us this is simply a question of which educational group to turn for.  For those of us with an intellectual or development disability (I/DD) this question becomes complicated.

Where can you locate a chronic disease education that is accessible to you?

Since 2010 the Health Care Advocacy Program has been working to collaborate with community educators to recognize ways to increase accessibility to their existing chronic disease education offerings for individuals with I/DD.  To date, the program has taken some major strides in raising awareness about this need in the Denver community.

If you are a Denver-based chronic disease educator interested in learning about increasing your program’s accessibility to individuals with I/DD please contact Alex Andrews at aandrews@advocacydenver.org, 303.831.7733.

If you are an individual with a disability or a family/friend/caretaker of an individual with a disability and are interested in learning about our current educational opportunities please contact Alex Andrews at aandrews@advocacydenver.org, 303.831.7733 for details.
