Client Corner: Mary

This March the Health Care Advocacy Program started our first Health Matters class at a local day program.  There has been great interest and participation by clients and staff members.  One client in particular, we will call her Mary, has gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and motivation!  Mary had several strokes seven years ago and has been unable to walk, feed herself, and has a limited ability to speak.  She started working with a physical therapist 2 months ago; just before the health classes started.  With instruction and her own determination, Mary started walking again last week!  She still needs assistance, but is making great strides in her recovery!  When asked if she thinks the Health Matters class has aided in her recovery she shared that “the class has reminded me that I have control over many things that happen in my life!”  Staff at the day program report that Mary is making healthier choices at the grocery store and her physical therapist describes her as “motivated and ambitious.”  We, at the Health Care Advocacy Program, are honored to be a small part of Mary’s recovery!  We are excited to see what Mary can achieve!

HCPF seeking ACC Stakeholder input!

“The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing is seeking stakeholder input and feedback on the future of the Accountable Care Collaborative (ACC)…The goal of the ACC is to provide Medicaid clients the right care, at the right time, in the right setting. The Department is committed to
creating a high-performing health care delivery system that is cost-effective, delivers quality services and improves client health.
Through a series of stakeholder meetings, the Department, in collaboration with the Colorado Health Institute (CHI), seeks to collect client, provider, and stakeholder input on the next phase of the ACC strategic plan.”
