ADVOCACYDENVER was established May 12, 1954, by parents to address the lack of access for children with disabilities to public education and in-home supports. We were one of the first Arc Chapters in the country. As we prepared to celebrate our 70th anniversary, we looked back at the writings of our founding families.
In the early years we were a volunteer organization, but with time the agency was able to hire staff. We kept our doors open through bake sales, bingo games, the sale of candy bars, thrift items, and of course donations.
Today our agency looks very different, AdvocacyDenver feels fortunate for the ongoing opportunity to provide advocacy support to Denver children and youth with disabilities and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
AdvocacyDenver feels fortunate that our Center for Special Education Law can offer sliding scale and when appropriate free special education legal services to Colorado families.
This year, we ask you to help us keep our momentum going by providing a financial gift to broaden our efforts. As always, we appreciate everything you do for us year-round and anything you’re able to contribute over the next month.
