What’s coming this October!

Currently the Wellness Committee is working in four different work groups. Each group needs more input, members, and time to effectively report back to the committee about any findings and/or recommendations. The next Wellness Committee will be postponed until November in order to give each group sufficient time to work together.

Wellness Committee Work Groups

Currently the Wellness Committee is working in four different work groups. Each group needs more input, members, and time to effectively report back to the committee about any findings and/or recommendations. The next Wellness Committee will be postponed until November in order to give each group sufficient time to work together.

Current Work Groups: HEALTH ASSESSMENT, EXERCISE, NUTRITION, and FAMILY INTEGRATION

Please contact Alexandra Andrews to join a work group or recommend any programs or professionals that may be appropriate assets to a work group subject area.

Annual Membership Meeting

Join AdvocacyDenver for our annual membersbhip meeting! Free dinner and drinks for paid members. Membership can be renewed or purchased at the door ($5 for self-advocates, $25 for all others). RSVP to Elizabeth Casswell.
New Health Matters classes starting!
Two Health Matters classes will be starting this fall! The Health Matters classes include hands-on exercise and nutrition activities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. One class will be hosted at a local day program and the other will be open to the community on Thursday nights and Saturday morning at a Denver-area church. Stay tuned to our website and upcoming emails for further details! Feel free to contact Alexandra Andrews, Health Care Advocacy Program Coordinator, for more details or to enroll.
National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) Fall Webinar Series
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

 

Workgroups will: Research their chosen focus area(s) in the following ways: Find existing programs, Legislation, Financial support, and Grassroots efforts; Bring in community and professional support people to separate groups and the committee; Report back to the entire committee for further discussion.
