Henry Sobanet has served as Director of the Office of State Planning and Budgeting under two Colorado Governors. He was first appointed to the office in 2004 by Governor Bill Owens. Bill Calls For Transparency of Community Centered Boards

State Senator Irene Aguilar (D-32) has introduced a bill to ensure that the state’s 20 Community Centered Boards are subject to regular financial and performance reviews. CCBs, private non-profits designated as entry points into support systems for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, receive funding from state, federal, and local governments. Senator Aguilar is putting forth Senate Bill 16-038 to make CCBs subject to the Colorado Open Records Act. Komen Colorado Study Identifies Barriers to Breast Health Care
An Interview with Catherine Strode
One out of every seven women in Colorado will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. That compares with a national statistic of one out of every eight women. Although more women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Colorado, fewer are diagnosed with advanced stage disease and fewer women die from the disease compared to national statistics. In a Needs Assessment study conducted over a diverse 22 county service area, Komen Colorado has identified the top barriers to care for women in the state.

New CEO of Health Foundation Kicks Off Statewide Tour
An Interview with Catherine Strode
The Colorado Health Foundation’s new President and CEO, Karen McNeil-Miller, is leading an 11-region listening tour around the state to learn more about Coloradans’ health challenges. McNeil-Miller, who has been on the job for only a month, is conducting the tour through the spring of 2016.
In this interview with Catherine Strode, she says the tour will inform the Foundation how its annual 100 million dollar investment in Colorado can impact health care barriers unique to each one of the state’s communities.

Life or Death: A Right to Choose?

State Representatives Joann Ginal (House District 52) and Lois Court (House District 6) are continuing their effort to give terminally ill patients in Colorado the choice to take a lethal dose of medication when they have six months or less to live. The two state representatives are pledging to bring back a ‘Death With Dignity’ bill during the 2016 legislative session. In an interview with Catherine Strode, Representative Joann Ginal, one of the two prime co-sponsors, says she believes the bill offers Coloradans a civil right to choose.
